Not Common Questions to Ask a Daycare

Which Daycare?? It’s an overwhelming and big decision for your life and even more so your child. Hope these questions help you think outside the box when considering childcare and what is right for your family. Before taking a tour write down your questions and things you want or what you’re looking for. Ask other parents who they recommend or experience that they have had.   


Check with your employer about childcare vouchers, believe me that can come in handy! And always have a Plan B... turn to family, friends, local programs like the YMCA to plan for bad weather, illness, or whatever reason. 


These questions I wish I had asked back when I was searching for a daycare: 

  1. Are there any extra charges - for example: gym, dance, soccer, music 
  2. What is their Holiday Schedule?
  3. What is their weather policy - my daycare follows Baltimore County School system
  4. Will your child be held back - for example: potty training, like switching from the 2's room to the 3's room?
  5. What does their day to day look like? 
  6. Security measures and safety protocols?
  7. How do they take payments? (Can you split payments if needed)
  8. Something to look for: Employee Turnover - if the employees aren't happy there is a reason
